What’s your day job?
I am a fundraising professional with experience in higher education and the performing arts. Lately, my days and nights have been filled with my various volunteer work, including Sorority Director – Panhellenic Resources for Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Girls on the Run, HazingPrevention.org and the Alzheimer’s Association.
How do you inspire progress in others?
First, it’s crucial to find out what is important to the other person and why they are involved in whatever organization or project they are. Then you can utilize that to motivate them to move forward. I also lead by example – I don’t ask something of others that I won’t do myself and ensure that my actions support my words and intentions. Finally, I try to always remember this saying: “We judge ourselves by our intentions and others by their actions.”
Who is someone you admire and why?
I greatly admire one of my previous bosses, Elaine, who is a very strong, independent woman. She taught me to be humble, inspire others and stick to my beliefs – whatever they are and however unconventional they may be.
