WHAT’S YOUR DAY JOB? I am a student, freelance designer, and a design and social media intern. Currently, I am not taking any classes, but I am coming to the end of my graduation and I feel that this is the perfect time for me to start developing some experience. When I graduate, I want to make sure I have something to work with when trying to pursue my dream job as an Art Director.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE? To hold myself accountable, I make lists and research quite a lot. I place motivational notes on my wall and every morning, I wake up to these encouraging quotes. I place myself in environments that are positive, encouraging and challenging. I keep my mind healthy and active by reading a lot. Additionally, I try to keep my body healthy and active. I go on morning runs to start my day off — these runs give me the energy I need to put a 110% into everything I do.
WHAT FUELS YOU TO TAKE ACTION? Honestly, my goals, my competition, my family and my friends fuel me to take action. It is a combination of a bit of everything that has fueled me to keep working and not just completing the job, but working hard to do more than just enough. Additionally, what you read can fuel you to take the steps you thought you couldn’t. One of the books that really inspired me was Art of the Pitch. It definitely helped me understand how I can take my weakness and make it my strength.
WHO IS SOMEONE YOU ADMIRE AND WHY? I feel like the way I am is due to one person and one person only, my dad. My dad has been the hardest working person I met so far. He came to Canada, had to go to school, found a job, was hospitalized, quit his job, started his own business and brought it to a successful point. He did this all by himself, while raising 6 kids. My dad is someone I always admire, he is my go-to person. If there is one person that I feel will help me make the right decisions, it’s my dad.
