I believe that life is a beautiful experience no matter the circumstances, and I also believe that life is far too short to take anything for granted. I am fueled by my ongoing desire to not only become the best person I can be, but to take advantage of every opportunity that I have at this point in my life; opportunities to travel, to learn, and to grow. I choose to take action and pursue lofty goals because I know that now is the time to chase my dreams with full force. I have room to fail. And, even if I do, I refuel and keep moving forward, always reaching for success.

I love to make lists. I even make lists of lists that I need to make. I write out my daily schedules, weekly to-do lists, one year plan timelines, and sometimes even timelines of my plans and goals for the next three to five years. I usually keep these lists in my planner or taped to my mirror. They help me hold myself accountable and inspire me to keep pursuing what I want to achieve in the future and remind me of what I need to do in order to get there.

When I studied abroad on Semester at Sea last spring, I was awarded the only scholarship for a Chapman University student, worth $7,500. There were many amazing Chapman students on my voyage, so it was a true honor to receive that award and represent Chapman around the world. It was a great feeling to know that my hard work had paid off!

I have very little free time during the semester because I find that I function best with a busy schedule, but when I do have free time, I love to spend it watching great independent films; the best one I saw recently was Short Term 12. Reading is my other favorite hobby, because I find it to be a great escape from the stresses of daily life. It is especially great when I am curled up in my couch with a big mug of hot tea. My favorite author is F. Scott Fitzgerald and I am currently working on reading all of his books, but I can’t lie… most Nicholas Sparks reads will also keep me up until three or four in the morning.
