Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Boyz 2 Men or NKOTB? BSB – no question.
WHAT’S YOUR DAY JOB? I am currently pursuing my professional dance career in Los Angeles, which includes performing, choreographing, and teaching. One of my few day jobs is being the Dance Coordinator at the YWCA in Santa Monica and working with middle school girls that are a part of the organization.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE? To hold myself accountable I do my best to follow through on what I say with my actions. I want to be dependable to the people around me and hold myself to my word so once I say I’m going to do something… I do it. I also prepare for each day ahead of time based on what I will be doing; working, auditioning, teaching etc. I live out of my planner and try my best to stay organized.
WHAT FUELS YOU TO TAKE ACTION? My desire to impact those around me fuels me to take action. I want to inspire the dance students that I work with and therefore strive to be a good role model and mentor to them. I want what I do in my life to matter and because of that I do my best to share what I can with those around me.
HOW DO YOU INSPIRE PROGRESS IN OTHERS? I think as a teacher, I am constantly seeing growth in more ways than just simple dance steps. I work with young girls who are changing and evolving into the people they want to become and, in whatever ways I can, I want to be a huge support system for them. I encourage, advise and guide them in what I believe to be the best way. Being involved in the arts has allowed me to be open to my personal progress as well as be a witness and supporter of many others. I am involved with a non-profit organization that brings art education to terminally ill children in the hospital. It has been one of the coolest experiences to be a part of their progress physically and emotionally as they discover the impact that music, dance, and visual arts can have on their lives and through the obstacles they face. I always want to be someone who leads by example, so getting to work one on one with them has been an absolute honor for me.
IF THE SKY WAS TRULY THE LIMIT, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR LIFE? Since the sky IS the limit, I ultimately would like to own my own dance company. With that company I would like to have an outreach program that offers dance classes, conventions, and education to aspiring young dancers and artists. I also would like to travel the world, eat great food, and spend lots of time with my family and friends.
