WHAT’S YOUR DAY JOB?
I am the founder of Play Your Part, Inc., a company that provides music therapy, music lessons, social groups, and contract music therapy to Orange County, CA. On a daily basis, I have the honor of making music with children and teens, using music to facilitate non-musical goals. The majority of my clients are on the Autism spectrum, but I also teach typical learners, too.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE?
Because I work for myself, I have to hold myself accountable for getting things done. If I don’t do it, the results won’t be there. I make lists, set timelines and calendar alerts, and use post-its regularly.
WHAT FUELS YOU TO TAKE ACTION?
My passion and drive originated from my youth. My brother has special needs, and growing up around his friends and peers, I knew I had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people.
HOW DO YOU INSPIRE PROGRESS IN OTHERS?
I lead by example. I try to do my best each and everyday and inspire others to do the same.
IF THE SKY WAS THE LIMIT, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR LIFE?
I would start a non-profit whose mission is to provide music to all children free of cost. One of the things I encounter regularly is the fact that not everybody can afford extracurriculars like music lessons, or a music social group…but there are extreme benefits for children who learn how to play an instrument, from cognitive to social benefits, to becoming a more educated human being, and appreciating the arts.
