Accountable in Action is a group of women dedicated to encouraging, promoting and inspiring excellence in career and personal endeavors for all women. Please meet the Ally Officers who work to ensure you can achieve your goals and help others achieve theirs.
Sarah Barton: Founder and CEO
Sarah has dedicated her life to helping others pursue their passions through development and conviction. She has put her master’s degree in Leadership Development to use in founding Accountable in Action. It is the culmination of her experiences as a leader working with women in higher education that have made her who she is today. In her roles as a women’s soccer coach at her alma mater, Chapman University, and as a teacher in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, she constantly reminds others that there is no greater vehicle than optimism. This, and her belief that there is no substitute for hard work and enthusiasm, is what makes her the driving force behind Accountable in Action.
“Nothing great has ever been achieved, except by those who dared believe that something inside themselves was superior to circumstance.” -Bruce Barton

In leadership roles first in athletics and academics at Chapman University and now in the workforce, she encourages those around her to pursue their dreams and have a fun time doing it. As the CCO for Accountable in Action, Lindsey is dedicated to opening the AinA community to all women of interest and ensuring that each community member feels connected, engaged, and esteemed.
“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” -Maya Angelou
Nicole Madonia: Chief Financial Officer
In all endeavors, Nicole strives to make a positive difference in people’s lives. She is a graduate of Chapman University’s physical therapy school and serves as a physical therapist for special needs children. A skilled athlete and former member of the Chapman Women’s Soccer Team, Nicole believes in the power of teamwork. As Accountable in Action’s CFO, she continues to encourage women to work hard, pursue their goals and to not stop until they’ve done so.
Shana Makos: Editor
Shana’s passion for supporting women in leadership began as a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at Chapman University. There, alumnae served as constant mentors and, after graduation, she pledged to be a constant resource to undergraduate women in the Sorority as alumnae had done for her. Since then, she has expanded this passion and is currently earning her M.A. in Communication Studies at Colorado State University. Shana serves as the Editor for Accountable in Action and is the point of contact for the It’s A Movement blog.
